FREELANCE SENIOR DESIGNER
As a freelance Senior Digital Designer within the BBC News design team, I worked in a multi-platform, multidisciplinary environment responsible for the end-to-end design and visualisation of stories.
In this role, my primary focus was to conceptualise and create BBC News sub-brand, BBC InDepth.
Thought-provoking analysis from our top journalists that informs, feeds your curiosity, and helps you make sense of a complex world.
Collaborating closely with the Creative Director and cross-functional teams, I explored how we could create a beautiful and engaging sub-brand that featured distinct premium elements separate from standard BBC News content while maintaining a sense of belonging to the BBC News family. I created a responsive design system that could be applied across all platforms, including our website, app, and social media accounts, while ensuring a cohesive premium identity.
I chose a bold colour palette that aligns with core BBC News guidelines, enhanced by negative space to emphasise that premium feel for our audience.
After extensive testing and rounds of feedback, the sub-brand was refined and successfully launched in May 2024. Following the launch, we welcomed two permanent Senior Designers to the BBC InDepth team and took on the responsibility of onboarding and supporting them as my involvement in the project concluded.
In addition to my work on BBC InDepth, I have also contributed to coverage of the 2024 UK and US elections and created bespoke article images for BBC News, which can be viewed in my portfolio.

DESIGN LEAD
APRIL 2021 – FEBRUARY 2024
In 2021, I was promoted from Senior Digital Designer to Design Lead. During this time, I had the opportunity to build and grow the design team from the ground up. I hired a Senior Designer and a Picture Editor, and I also sourced and managed several creative freelancers.
I created a collaborative and supportive environment for my team. We maintained a structured workspace where we implemented processes and workflows, allowing our designs to flourish. I actively encouraged the team to share and explore their ideas, giving them the time to create, embrace their strengths, and manage their weaknesses.
I established, created, and delivered high-quality visual designs for editorial, marketing, social and commercial projects while adhering to the Condé Nast design style. I managed and evolved the Vogue Business design house style through colour, typography, movement, and data visualisation, translating complex briefs under tight deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.

SENIOR DIGITAL DESIGNER
JANUARY 2019 – APRIL 2021
I joined Vogue Business at its launch in January 2019. During this time, I supported the Creative Lead in developing the brand from a startup into a recognised title within the Condé Nast family.
With strong competition, it was essential for us to create a confident and distinctive brand. Our unique selling proposition was to provide more insightful information to our audience than our competitors, giving them insights they couldn't find elsewhere. We successfully achieved this by creating impactful data and infographics that were presented in an eye-catching manner, maintaining a consistent identity throughout.
As our team grew, so did the demand for new creative work. We developed branding and identities for podcasts, commercials, advisory services, and events. The pandemic required us to be agile and quick-thinking to continue providing value to our paying members in alternative ways. As a digital-only brand, we collaborated to find innovative solutions, placing visual and audio at the forefront of our strategy.

MIDWEIGHT DIGITAL DESIGNER
SEPTEMBER 2017 – JANUARY 2019
During my time at Warehouse, I was responsible for creating and delivering multi-channel digital assets. A typical week included developing a new homepage, refreshing site-wide banners, and producing customer-facing newsletters, social media content, and marketing materials.
I collaborated closely with our print designer to translate our seasonal campaigns into visually appealing digital creatives across various platforms. I brought these campaigns to life through movement and design elements, such as texture and colour.
This role was fast-paced, with viral moments, trending fashions, and changing business needs throughout the week. Effective communication and thorough briefing processes were crucial to ensure we met deadlines while maintaining best-in-class standards.

MIDWEIGHT DIGITAL DESIGNER
DECEMBER 2014 – AUGUST 2017
My role at New Look primarily involved working in social media and marketing. I was responsible for content creation across key owned and paid platforms, as well as for digital advertising and social media in both the UK and international markets.
I frequently collaborated with external advertising clients such as JCDecaux, InSkin Media, and Clear Channel to create digital takeovers and out-of-home (OOH) creatives used throughout the UK.
During our Christmas campaign, ANGELS X ROBOTS, we were among the first companies to utilise a geofilter on Snapchat and secured exclusive ownership of Twitter’s most valuable advertising spots for 24 hours. Mentions during this campaign reached four times the company's average. I was incredibly proud to contribute to this achievement by creating digital content for social platforms, in-store displays, and marketing initiatives.

As an independent retailer selling luxury brands, I was responsible for updating the e-commerce site, weekly emails, and creating affiliate advertising. I was also involved in producing bespoke content, working closely with the in-house photographer to produce beautiful shoots to use across multi-digital platforms.

JUNIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER
OCTOBER 2008 – AUGUST 2012
My first taste out of uni and into the design world. This role was very varied and provided invaluable experience for my future in design. I initially joined as an apparel designer, creating designs for clothing and accessories. As I gained more experience I was encouraged to explore other areas of the business such as e-commerce, product photography, packaging, and branding.
